Strawberry Girl

My daughter loves strawberries.  I made this strawberry cheesecake just for her.  A graham cracker crust, lots of whipped cream and fresh strawberry sauce makes this cake one of our favorites.

Celebrate the 4th with fantastic Red Velvet Cake with a vanilla custard frosting!  We felt extremely patriotic while we ate this cake.

The Cell

My son, Will, had to make a 3D model of a cell.  We decided to make a cake.  He got an A, his teacher and class were very impressed, and it was delicious.  Definitely a win for everyone.

Bloomin' Birthdays

Lorien loves helping to decorate cakes and so this year for her birthday we decided to host a cake decorating party.  We made lovely flower invitations and I decorated the front of a cake to match. We taught Lorien's cute little friends about gum paste, fondant and flower making and then I set them loose to decorate the rest of the cake.

Each girl had her own work station and supplies.  They also decorated a cupcake to take home with them. 

We had so much fun decorating this cake together! 

I'm workin'!

Ethan loves tools, trucks, tractors and his sand box more than anything.  When he is busy and doesn't want to be bothered he says "Mom!  I'm workin'!"  My little worker man loved this cake and wanted to pull the tractors off to play with them. Happy 3rd birthday Ethan!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes

This is a picture of my sweet sister in law Ellie Hall.  I love her dearly.  Because of her great love of cookie dough - I made her chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes.  Vanilla cupcakes with cookie dough flavored swiss meringe buttercream and a wedge of freshly baked chocolate chip cookie on top.  She and many of her friends enjoyed them while celebrating her birthday.

Back at Last

For the last 5 months we've been remodeling our new 30 year old house.  My husband jokes that my cake skills made me really good at tiling, painting, mudding, taping and plastering. In truth, I did get pretty good at it but only because we had so much work to do.  We're exhausted, and though there are lots more projects we'd like to tackle, we're finished for now.  I am finally free to make cakes again.  I even have a second kitchen now - my cake kitchen.  I'm easing my way back into baking with 100 cupcakes for the faculty and staff at Vineyard Elementary School.  My son's 6th grade class made lunch and I volunteered to bring dessert. 

I made 50 Raspberry Cream Cheese Swirl and 50 Chocolate Chip cupcakes.  Thanks to everyone at Vineyard Elementary for working so hard and taking such great care of my children!
